Phenom Vanes Fitting Guide

Introduction

Our new push-fit Phenom vanes are great for if you're uncomfortable with fletching your own arrows, or simply don't have the time or inclination! They're also handy to have as spares for your arrows with standard fletchings, in case you damage one during a shoot. Very useful for those pesky field rounds when you rattle one off a tree...

Having personally tested the 2.25" three-vane style alongside arrows fletched with the same sized Bohning X-Vanes, I've been able to keep a consistent group at all distances.

Fitting

Due to the nature of how Phenom vanes fit, each order has to be custom made. They're designed to be a tight fit on the arrow shaft to ensure that they don't move during a round, and that means that every different brand of arrow and every different spine is potentially a different size. For example, a friend of mine recently installed some vanes designed for Carbon Express Medallion XR 800 spines on her 700 spine arrows - they went on, but they were a little tight for a start!

It is critical that when you place your order you specify exactly which shafts these are for - we will look up the exact outside diameter of that shaft and ensure the vanes are produced to fit.

When fitting the vanes, follow this procedure:

Firstly remove the nock, then push the vane on as far as it will go. Once it starts to get tight, grip as far towards the back of the vane as you can (honestly, this makes it much easier!), and twist it down on to the shaft. Don't worry, they're tough - you're very unlikely to damage them!

Once you get the vane into the correct position down the shaft, optionally roughly align a vane with your chosen mark, i.e. the 'spine align' marks on Victory arrows. Finally, straighten out your vane ensuring that each individual vane is in a straight line when viewed from above - no ripples or twists. Bear in mind that the vanes have a helical by default - just concentrate on keeping each individual vane straight along its length.

Reinstall your nock and index as appropriate. That's it!  A top tip if you're struggling is to use a piece of resistance band (now supplied with each order) to wrap around the arrow shaft when twisting on the vane - it makes the arrow much easier to grip.
